story
The founder, Jeanelle Gladwish, has always felt a strong connection to the sea. Growing up on an island, life was shaped by the water—from summers spent at the beach to winters spent having picnics along the coast. Over time, this closeness shaped a deeper awareness of how closely our lives are tied to the health of the planet.
For years, Jeanelle wanted to do something more meaningful with her work. In 2023, after watching a documentary about the declining health of our oceans, she was inspired to align her professional skills with the urgent need to protect our environment. With two-thirds of our planet covered by ocean, translating for the planet also means translating for our seas.
With over eight years of experience in the translation industry, Jeanelle believes language can be a powerful tool for change. As this vision took shape, she began bringing together a small network of freelance translators who shared the same values—chosen not only for their linguistic expertise, but for a genuine commitment to environmental responsibility. Together, the project reflects a belief that thoughtful communication, created by people who care, can contribute in meaningful ways to a more sustainable future.
